Diabetes is a leading cause of adult blindness and could be prevented with intensive insulin therapy.   But many cannot afford the cost of frequent blood sugar testing or an insulin pump.  Profits from this site go to help underwrite the programs at IPump.org, Inc., a nonprofit organization that helps diabetic persons with the cost of diabetes care supplies.

Rachel's first quilt

Citrus punch
Created by Rachel Henninger, age 11, 2006

Rachel began her first quilt at age 10.  It took her almost a year to complete.  She also loves to knit and crochet.  Rachel machine pieced her quilt, but loves the feel of a sewing needle so she patiently hand-stitched her quilt.  She has started a new quilt and is always adding to her stash!

Rachel is a loving and attentive big sister to Elizabeth, age 7, who has type 1 diabetes. Rachel is suspected of having Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY).  Specifically, MODY 5.  Rachel has had major kidney surgery and many kidney-related problems.  Yet she maintains a sunny outlook and loves life almost as much as I love her!

Lahle (Rachel's proud and lucky mom)
