quilting-dee home

You are still in the Quilting-Dee website, however, you are able to make a donation directly to  IPump.org, Inc.'s program QD Quilts for Children Newly Diagnosed with Diabetes through our site.  We do NOT receive any compensation or portion of your donations for IOH or the Quilting Dee.  Quilts and materials that are donated are sewn into quilts by volunteers of all sewing skill levels.  The quilts are given away free to children with diabetes.  IPump.org, Inc. is a nonprofit, California Public Benefits Corporation.   If you would like to contribute to IPump.org, Inc. through their own website, go there now.

Quilts are love

Love to quilt?  Love kids with diabetes?  We love volunteers!

If you are a quilt shop owner, a school, church, or other group who would like to make a quilt for a child with diabetes, please contact program director for special information about how to get started.

An important message
from Islets of Hope

We are not professional fundraisers and receive no money, services, or special considerations for raising money for diabetes causes, nor have we been asked by other organizations to raise funds on their behalf.  We just do it.  Why?  We love quilting.  We love kids.  And we HATE diabetes.

As a business owner with diabetes, and the parent of a child with diabetes, Islets of Hope's founder Lahle Wolfe believes she has a personal responsibility to give some- thing back to the diabetes community. The Quilting Dee is just one of the many ways in which Islets of Hope is making a difference in the lives of others living with diabetes.

or to any of their financial assistance programs

IPump.org, Inc., a nonproft, California Public Benefits Corporation, accepts donated fabric, quilt tops, blocks, finished quilts. and sewing supplies.  But even with donated materials, we still have to purchase batting, shipping materials, and pay for the cost of shipping.  We also send free diabetes information along with our quilts and need help covering the costs of printing and the cost of maintaining this website.  You can help us to keep on helping children!

Do you have a quilt in progress that you are not sure you will ever get around to finishing?  Let us finish it for you and give it to a child who has been newly diagnosed with diabetes!

If you would like to send us a finished quilt, partially completed quilt, quilt-top, or set of blocks we would be very grateful!  (please let us know what materials were used --  important information for children with allergies).  We would be happy to give you credit in the quilt listing including on the card that goes to each child when they get a quilt -- just be sure to tell us how you would like to be recognized (name, company, etc.), or if you wish to remain anonymous.

To donate a quilt to be gifted to a child newly diagnosed with diabetes, please send it to:

IPump.org, Inc. - QD
2250 Aylssum Avenue
Upland, CA  91784-7384

We cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged quilts or items shipped to us. Because your quilt items are important, we recommend that you get a tracking number to make sure that your package has arrived.  If you include e-mail or return address information we will send confirmation of arrival along with a really big thank you!

"Glucose test strips cost an average of seventy cents to one dollar each. Testing five times per day can cost over $1,800 annually just for the test strips.  For those on intensive insulin therapy who test eight to ten times per day the costs can reach over $3,500.  IPump.org, Inc. helps diabetic patients in need with the cost of these essential medical supplies."
