The Quilting Dee
 quilting-dee home

You are still in the Quilting-Dee website, however, you are able to make a donation directly to  IPump.org, Inc.'s program QD Quilts for Children Newly Diagnosed with Diabetes through our site.  We do NOT receive any compensation or portion of your donations for IOH or the Quilting Dee.  Quilts and materials that are donated are sewn into quilts by volunteers of all sewing skill levels.  The quilts are given away free to children with diabetes.  IPump.org, Inc. is a nonprofit, California Public Benefits Corporation.   If you would like to contribute to IPump.org, Inc. through their own website, go there now.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
as of June 6, 2007

We currently are well-stocked with donated fabric and materials (thank you to all who sent us these items) so we are not able to receive fabric at this time (we are bursting at the "seams").  However, we are always in need of tops and finished quilts as this makes sewing go a lot faster.

IPump.org,Inc., a nonproft,California Public Benefits Corporation, accepts donated fabric, quilt tops, blocks, finished quilts. and sewing supplies. But even with donated materials, we still have to purchase batting, shipping materials, and pay for the cost of shipping. We also send free diabetes information along with our quilts and need help covering the costs of printing and the cost of maintaining this website.

Items we accept (and are always in need of):

  • 100% cotton fabrics, by the yard, fat quarters, or even bits and pieces -- we can turn it all into a quilt for a child with diabetes

  • Flannel, muslin, binding, odd blocks, quilt panels, quilt tops, and finished (or semi-finished) quilts.

  • Spools of thread, any color.  Due to the volume of quilts we need to produce, we generally machine quilt all our quilts.

  • Batting. We only use 100% cotton batting as many children with diabetes are also prone to allergies. Using natural fibers helps, however, we can and will use synthetics.  We simply make note of synthetics in the "materials" used in the quilt description.

You can send your material donations to:

IPump.org, Inc. - QD
2250 Aylssum Avenue
Upland, CA  91784-7384

We cannot be responsible for quilts or items shipped to us.  If your quilt items are important, we recommend that you get a tracking number to make sure that your package arrives safely in our office.  If you include e-mail or return address information we will send confirmation of arrival along with a really big thank you!

If you would like to contribute financially to IPump.org, Inc. use the donation button on our home page (www.ipump.org) or send your tax deductible gift (made payable to IPump.org,Inc.) to:

IPump.org, Inc.

Upland, CA  91784-7384

Don't think any amount is too small, every little bit helps.  Quilts are made one stitch at a time; our program is funded by one caring heart at a time ... and even a donation of $10.00 will cover most of our costs associated with shipping one quilt!

Quilts are love

If you are a quilt shop owner, a school, church, or other group who would like to make a quilt for a child with diabetes, please contact program director for special information about how to get started.

An important message
from Islets of Hope

We are not professional fundraisers and receive no money, services, or special considerations for raising money for diabetes causes, nor have we been asked by other organizations to raise funds on their behalf.  We just do it.  Why?  We love quilting.  We love kids.  And we HATE diabetes.

As a business owner with diabetes, and the parent of a child with diabetes, Islets of Hope's founder Lahle Wolfe believes she has a personal responsibility to give some- thing back to the diabetes community. The Quilting Dee is just one of the many ways in which Islets of Hope is making a difference in the lives of others living with diabetes.
